Lee Quigley

Player Bio

Name: Lee Thurman Quigley

Hometown: Temecula, California

Age: 48 years young!

Family: Happily married 23 years to my beautiful wife Jana Quigley. 4 awesome kids. 3 incredible daughters and 1 amazing son.

Most Influential Person: My wife. She can literally get me to do anything with her smile! And she’s also the kindest hearted person I know.

Year I Started Playing Pickleball: 2017, but not soon enough for sure.

Who is your pickleball mentor: I would love to say Ben Johns, but he is more of a quiet inspirational figure for me. We became friends in the summer of 2018 when he played and practiced at my house every day for a couple months. I don’t hit him up for mentoring advice, but I’m certainly studying his game and watching from afar and love it when we run into each other and have a chance to say hi for a few moments.

Do you have a pickleball coach: I’m a really big fan of Bret Bucher and his Bucher Pickleball Academy. He knows my game and I trust his coaching. He’s a great friend too.

How you got into pickleball: My good buddy Andy Tibbitts knew I loved and played tennis every day. He hit me up to play pickleball with him on the regular for almost a year. I told him if he never asked me to play again, I would go with him one time. I instantly fell in love with the game. A week later I converted my beloved tennis court into 4 permanent pickleball courts and have never looked back!

College Sports: No college sports, but I did get permanently banned from playing all intramural sports. Ha! Story for another time.

Famous person I want to play pickleball with: For sure with my wife and Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas. Or obviously Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift would be amazing too!

Pickleball Accomplishments: I’ve won a bunch of tournaments, and I’ve lost a bunch too. I’d say what I’m most proud of is that over the years people I compete against still want to play with me. Life’s short. Compete really hard but be a nice person!

What are you most looking forward to this year: I made a goal when I started playing pickleball to one day play professionally as a senior pro. Fast forward almost 10 years later and I am fulfilling that dream by trying out and getting selected to play in the CSP as a Scorpion. This year is all about positioning, learning, and improvement for me. I hope to earn staying power for many years to come!
