Bret Bucher

Player Bio

Born and raised in Encinitas, Bret Bucher discovered pickleball in 2012 at the YMCA and began competing in tournaments the following year. A sponsored Selkirk Sport athlete since 2016, Bret is a 2024 5.0 National Champion, 2025 USA Pickleball Nationals Men’s Doubles runner-up, and 3-time California State Champion.

With a degree in Physical Education and Health, Bret has been coaching since 2018 and currently teaches over 250 students monthly through the City of Temecula program.

In 2023, Bret and his wife Bree founded Bucher Pickleball Academy, focused on developing players from beginner to professional level. Bret is also a teaching pro at So Cal Pickleball Club and coaches for Tyson McGuffin Signature Pickleball Camps.

Bret and Bree also serve as tournament directors, recently hosting the Katy Perry’s Firework Foundation Light Up the Court Charity Pickleball Tournament. They currently live in Temecula with their two children and enjoy spending time outdoors with family.
