That’s right! The Scorpions came away with another 3-1 record for the weekend in Columbus, Ohio to take a third place finish. But they added more excitement to the weekend by finishing with a win in their first “team-breaker” to cap the weekend.
The weekend started Saturday morning with a deflating loss (4-8) to the Denver Iconics, but the team depth rallied the Scorpions to win the afternoon battle (7-5) against the Kansas City Stingers.
Sunday morning began with a victory over the host team, the Columbus Hot Shots (8-4), one of the two undefeated teams from weekend #1.
The final match of the weekend was against the Indy Drivers (Kim’s team from last year), where the Scorpions had to win their last two matches to force a team-breaker to determine the winner. In the team-breaker, where doubles teams switch every two points, the Scorpions steady play carried them to an EXCITING victory.
On court celebrating was followed by a raucous team dinner at the 101 Beer Kitchen.
